The floor deck is the hidden machine of steel construction: while the roof gets the attention, the floors carry the building. A floor deck (压型钢板/楼承板) is a structural steel sheet that works as permanent formwork for concrete floor slabs in steel-frame buildings — it supports the wet concrete during construction, bonds mechanically with the concrete through embossments, and acts as tensile reinforcement after curing.
