With Bose Centerpoint technology, SurroundStage digital signal processing and a roomy 15.7-liter subwoofer cabinet, the new system puts all passengers at the center of the music for a clear listening experience, regardless of seating position.
More Power and Sophistication Pilot is one of the smoothest, most powerful SUVs in its class, powered by an all-new 24-valve DOHC 3.5-liter V6 engine from the company’s Lincoln, Alabama plant. ever made by Honda, producing 285 horsepower and 262 lb-ft. Torque (all SAE networks).
The all-aluminum V6 engine features a unique cylinder block and low-profile cylinder head with high rollover bores and narrow 35-degree valve angles for better combustion. The low profile design of the new DOHC cylinder head also allows for a more compact rocker arm and hydraulic lash adjuster design. Honda engineers also ditched separate cam bearing caps and instead integrated them directly into the valve cover. As a result, the overall height of the cylinder head has been reduced by 30 mm. The new design also reduces the amount of detail. Variable Cylinder Management™ (VCM™) improves fuel efficiency and reduces emissions.
Performance is further enhanced by an advanced and responsive 10-speed automatic transmission tuned specifically for the Pilot. Paddles are standard with manual control, making Pilot control even more fun.
Pilot is also introducing the second generation of Honda’s award-winning i-VTM4™ torque vectoring all-wheel drive system. Standard on TrailSport and Elite, the new and more powerful i-VTM4 system features a beefier rear differential that handles 40 percent more torque and delivers 30 percent faster response, optimizing available traction, especially on slippery and off-road surfaces. Up to 70 percent of the engine’s torque can be sent to the rear axle, and 100 percent of the torque can be distributed to either the left or right rear wheel.
Five standard selectable driving modes optimize the driving experience in a variety of conditions: Normal, Eco, Snow and the new Sport and Traction modes. TrailSport, EX-L (4WD), Touring (4WD) and Elite also have an updated Sand mode and a new Trail mode that optimizes the Pilot’s off-road capabilities.
The Pilot can tow up to 5,000 pounds, which is more than enough for most boats, campers, or “toy” trailers, which are key to many customers’ adventures.
Sporty yet comfortable power An all-new chassis and Pilot’s most durable bodywork make driving even sportier and more fun. The extremely rigid platform incorporates true TrailSport off-road capabilities from the outset, which also improves the ride, handling and overall refinement of the entire Pilot range with 60% more lateral stiffness at the front and 30% more lateral stiffness at the front. rear stiffness.
Based on Honda’s new light truck architecture, the Pilot’s wheelbase has been increased to 113.8 inches (+2.8 inches) for a smoother ride, and the tracks are significantly wider (+1.1 to 1.2 inches front, up from +1 .4 to 1.5 inches rear). stability.
Reconfigured front MacPherson struts and an all-new multi-link rear suspension make the Pilot’s driving more confident, agile and precise, while also improving ride quality. Front vertical stiffness increased by 8%, rear longitudinal stiffness increased by 29% and overall roll stiffness increased by 12%.
Impressive driving posture is enhanced by a redesigned steering ratio for faster response and optimized A-pillar geometry for crisper handling and agility in the city and more fun on twisty roads. Steering feel and stability are now best in class, while a new, stiffer steering column and stiffer torsion bars improve rider interaction.
Larger front brake discs (from 12.6 to 13.8 inches) and larger calipers also boost the Pilot’s stopping power. Reduced overall pedal travel and increased thermal stability enhance rider confidence in all driving situations and conditions, especially in emergency situations, on wet or snowy roads and off-road.
Honda’s first descent control system, which debuted earlier this year on the 2023 HR-V and 2023 CR-V, is now standard on every pilot. The system improves off-road performance, provides greater control on steep, slippery slopes of 7% or more, and allows the driver to select speeds from 2 to 12 mph.
Additional spray foam acoustic insulation, fender liner, thicker carpeting and other sound deadening technologies reduce wind, road and transmission noise for a more comfortable driving experience.
With a stronger build and unique off-road equipment, including the new Off-Road Torque Logic and the new TrailWatch camera system, the new Pilot TrailSport is a true off-road off-road vehicle capable of tackling challenging terrain. United States It’s been tested from the red cliffs of Moab, Utah, and the deep sands of Glamis, California, to the tough dirt trails in the mountains of Kentucky and North Carolina.
The new Diffuse Sky Blue color, exclusive to TrailSport, highlights its rugged design and adventurous spirit. Inside, the TrailSport stands out with rugged details, including unique orange contrast stitching and an embroidered TrailSport logo on the headrests. Standard all-weather floor mats in an exclusive TrailSport design provide added functionality and durability by protecting your carpet from snow, mud and debris. A new sliding panoramic sunroof is standard.
The new Pilot TrailSport combines rugged construction with class-leading off-road performance. The TrailSport is the only Pilot with an off-road tuned suspension (which includes a 1-inch lift for increased ride height and increased approach, exit and cornering angles). Unique anti-roll bars optimized for articulation and off-road comfort; spring rates and damper valving are also unique to the TrailSport.
The Pilot Trailsport is also the first Honda SUV to feature all-terrain tires for improved off-road traction and strong skid plates to protect the underbody from off-road damage. The standard TrailSport Continental TerrainContact AT (265/60R18) tires are great for sand, mud, rock and snow, yet quiet and comfortable on the road. Durable, unique 18″ wheels feature integral spokes to protect the wheels from off-road damage, and the TrailSport logo is embossed on a thick outer flange.
Developed in collaboration with Honda Powersports engineers, the thick steel skid plates protecting the Pilot TrailSport’s oil pan, transmission and fuel tank can support the car’s full weight when it hits rocks. With twice the Gross Vehicle Weight of the Pilot TrailSport (GVWR), the Stout recovery points are neatly integrated into the front skid plate and trailer hitch behind the full-size TrailSport spare tire.
In Trail mode, TrailSport’s exclusive Off-Road Torque Logic manages the distribution of engine torque from the i-VTM4 all-wheel drive system with torque vectoring based on available traction, while simultaneously applying braking vectoring using only the front brakes, reducing wheel spin and while maintaining traction.
Trail Torque Logic also controls the amount of power sent to the rear axle in certain situations, such as climbing a difficult off-road track with a V-groove, which can cause temporary loss of tire contact with the ground and up to 75%. available power is channeled to the single tire with the most grip. For better traction control and smoother forward movement, the remaining 25 percent of potential torque is directed to the non-clutch wheels to provide traction as soon as the tires hit the ground.
The new TrailWatch camera system uses four external cameras and four camera views to help drivers navigate slopes or near obstacles beyond their natural line of sight, such as blind peaks, deep ruts and trail edges. The front view camera automatically turns on when driving in Trail mode at speeds below 25 km/h, and then turns off at speeds above 25 km/h. For added driver support and unlike other similar security camera systems, TrailWatch automatically re-activates if vehicle speed drops below 12 mph.
To quantify performance targets and off-road performance, Honda engineers also partnered with off-road testing pioneer Nevada Automotive Testing Center (NATC) to develop a new proprietary off-road ability rating system.
