The quality of a rooftop solar PV array depends on the brackets and rails on which it is mounted. Below we present the latest updates from 16 manufacturers of residential, commercial and industrial solar mounting systems, with widely varying approaches. In living quarters, some improve on the proven crawler configuration with metal pads, while others venture the trackless, deck-attached approach. In the commercial and industrial sector, metal roof mounts, the emergence of molded plastic brackets, and even attempts to use roof trackers are popular.
