Florida mountain women disappeared in 1982…family seeks to close

Growing up in North Berkshire, I used to spend time in the Florida Hills with my father, uncle and cousin. We will go fishing in the swamp pond and pick berries in different places on the mountain. We will also drive over the mountains to Charlemont to swim in the “cold river”, I tell you, it’s cold. In the latter part of my youth, when I was 18, I met my future wife Amber (LaGess), who grew up in Florida.
Amber’s mother Gail (née Burdick) is Lynn Burdick’s cousin. On April 17, 1982, Lynn disappeared. After talking to Gale recently, she told me that Lynn was in high school when she disappeared. Although quiet and shy, Lynn has a big heart because she uses her free time to participate in activities with people in the cerebral palsy community. One of the activities she will participate in with them is bowling.
My father-in-law Harry mentioned to me that he was a member of a search team and he was searching for Lynn in various areas of Florida. To this day, Lynn’s case has not been resolved.
In order to find answers to Lynn Burdick’s disappearance, Lynn’s niece Debbie Davine organized a fundraising event through Go Fund Me to raise funds so that she could purchase billboard advertisements and display Lynn’s photos and popularity to the public. After all, the family wants to get some closure.
The financial goal of the Go Fund Me campaign is $1,500. You can read more about the fundraising event and click here to make a donation.
